Record a meeting
Audio capture
Microphone, system audio, headphones, mute, device switching, and why remote voices can go missing.
MeetSmara records two streams at once:
| Stream | What it captures |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Your voice |
| System audio | Remote participants playing through speakers or headphones (Zoom, Teams, Meet, and similar) |
Both are required. If system audio is missing, only you appear in the transcript.
Choose devices
- Open Settings → Audio.
- Select your microphone.
- Select the system / output device that your call app is using.
- Speak and watch the mic level meter.
You can change devices during a meeting. If the headset unplugs, MeetSmara falls back to the OS default microphone and shows a toast.
Headphones
Wear headphones whenever you can. On speakers, your microphone hears remote audio a second time (echo). Echo cancellation is not in this release; headphones avoid the problem.
Mute
The bottom-bar Mic button (shortcut Space) zeros your voice in the transcript pipeline. It does not mute you in Zoom or Teams — do that in the call app.
Space is ignored while you are typing in notes or chat.
What is never stored
Audio is transcribed live and discarded. MeetSmara does not write a WAV/MP3 of the call. Screenshots you capture on purpose are images, not audio — see Notes, screenshots, and live chat.
