Privacy and data
Consent, no audio storage, EU residency, export, local cache, and account deletion.
MeetSmara is built so the easy path is the private path.
Audio
Audio is transcribed live and discarded. It is never written to disk as a recording and never uploaded as a media file. Screenshots you capture on purpose are images, stored in a private bucket after processing — not the call audio.
Where data lives
- On your machine first — meetings and notes are saved on your computer while you work.
- Synced copy — EU, Zürich region (
eu-central-2), with GDPR-oriented access controls.
Consent
Before the first recording you acknowledge that you will inform participants. Review it in Settings → Data & Privacy. See Sign in and set up.
Export and delete
- Export JSON or Markdown of your meetings from Data & Privacy.
- Clear local cache removes the on-device copy (sign in again to restore from the cloud if you want it back).
- Delete account in Account & Security is type-to-confirm and removes the cloud account.
Principles in the product
The marketing Security page and Privacy policy are the legal versions. In the app, the same ideas show up as: no bot in the call, no audio retained, local-first edits, and export whenever you want it.
