Record a meeting
Notes, screenshots, and live chat
Live meeting notes, window capture with crop, and Ask Smara on the transcript so far.
Three tools sit next to the live transcript: notes, screen capture, and Ask Smara.
Meeting notes
Open Notes in the bottom bar or press Ctrl+N (Cmd+N on Mac).
- Write in markdown. Notes autosave locally.
- Tag a line as Decision, Action, Question, or Follow-up.
- Pin a note to a transcript moment.
- Use guided or freeform mode.
These notes feed the post-meeting summary. Keyboard shortcuts such as Space (mute) are disabled while the notes editor is focused.
Capture a window
Use Capture or Ctrl+Shift+S to grab a shared slide or window.
- Pick the window (Zoom share, browser, slides).
- Optionally crop away chrome, sidebars, or the webcam tile. The crop is remembered for the rest of the meeting.
- Thumbnails appear in a strip under the transcript.
Captures are stored as img-1, img-2, and so on. After the meeting, MeetSmara captions them and makes them searchable in chat. See the post-meeting Images tab.
Ask Smara (live)
The collapsible Ask Smara panel above the bottom bar answers questions about the finalised transcript so far — never the grey preview.
You can ask in time: “last 5 minutes”, “from minute 10 to 20”, “since my last question”. Anything else uses the full finalised transcript (within a size budget).
Live chat is locked until the first line commits. Answers cite transcript lines as [#17] (or a range). Click a chip to jump there in the dual pane. Sessions later appear in global Chat tagged as a live meeting — read-only there; continue them in this panel.
Type / for starter prompts, or use the mic button to dictate a short question.
